Of late I’ve been lending a hand with the OpenCD Project (TOCD), which if you’re unsure:
OpenCD is a collection of high quality Free and Open Source Software. The programs run in Windows and cover the most common tasks such as word processing, presentations, e-mail, web browsing, web design, and image manipulation. We include only the highest quality programs, which have been carefully tested for stability and which we consider appropriate for a wide audience.
It’s a great disc for anybody, but especially useful for people who aren’t tech-savvy or who don’t like to spend large amounts of money on software. Most of the programs are popular alternatives for existing software; OpenOffice equals Microsoft Office, TheGIMP equals Adobe Photoshop, etc etc.
The great part is you can copy the disc and give it to friends/family/co-workers legally, because everything on it is (free) open source software. The disc is available for download and by snail-mail from a few different sources as well.
You can visit OpenCD or download it directly. If you like it, burn a copy for everybody you know.
