After lugging around Shantaram on my last holiday, I was looking for a slimmer read for my time spent in airports and during flights. So after reading that Creepers had Urban Exploration as a theme, I just couldn’t resist. What I didn’t bet on was finishing the book before I even got to Hawaii! Most likely due in part to generous whitespace, and part endless hours in airports and on flights.

The characters I found were a little cliche’d, and if I were adapting the novel to film I’d half the amount of characters and seriously bulk up the story behind the villian, who is unfortunately a pretty much a run-of-the-mill sicko bent on murder. The setting and the story is really interesting however (not to mention believable), and Morrell manages quite well to keep the pages turning as the story unfolds. |
Aside from the numerous characters, the book manages quite well to intertwine urban exploration with a fictional thriller/escapist plot with hooks enough for any fan of the genre to enjoy.
