StumbleUpon – Song of the South DVD Remastered

ScreenshotSelling pirate copies of a Disney movie that isn’t allowed out of the Disney vault? I feel sad for the people who buy this stuff.

Amended on 25th Jan 2011: The site no longer directly sells pirate copies. Instead it’s now a less-harmful linkfarm. Go figure. See below for more inanity.

MOST of these are not pirated! They are an original Disney movie that is legal to be sold in that country. But not intended to be sold in the US! Or an older LASER DISK or older VCR! A long time ago Song of the South WAS sold in the US with these formats! All these people do is sell you an ORIGINAL and a DVD backup which can be played in any country. (Remember, it is LEGAL for you to have a BACKUP when you own an original!) 1) Song of the South is one of Disneys best! 2) Song of the South is the first time anyone combined animated and real people on a tape! Please learn the law befor you insult people who follow the law!

Back in October 2008 when I wrote this, that website was selling bootleg copies of a supposedly remastered copy of the film, with no disclaimer that it was not in fact an official (i.e., not pirated) DVD, nor did they mention that the DVD was a backup of a supplied VHS or LaserDisc as you presume was the case.

Now, three years later, it’s a totally different story. Now, it’s just a linkfarm website that offers no products at all.

So while you’re probably within the realms of truth saying “MOST of these are not pirated!”, let’s be clear. Nobody will find genuine Song of the South DVDs anywhere in those links. It doesn’t exist, and Disney will probably enjoy keeping it that way forever.

But in the mean time, those links will make you money, no doubt. Good luck with that Craig.
